One of Fairbanks finest restaurants. You will find good food prepared in house from A to Z. Perhaps the only place that serves American/Continental (Greek)/Mediterranean Cuisine. their entrees and desserts are totally made in their kitchen and not prepared by restaurant service companies, a common practice in eateries for certain entrees, starters, and desserts.
Their menu of amazing food has something for everyone. Although the menu includes pizza, steaks that are representative of American cuisine, scrumptious Italian pasta, and fresh Alaska seafood (when in season) this brother and sister first generation immigrant owners have created a great menu not found elsewhere in Fairbanks or in Alaska for that matter.
The Hellenic pride is everywhere; Greek decor, music, and traditional dishes such as moussaka, spanakopita, gyros, are definitely the protagonists.
Their wine selection is excellent and it includes ssome of the best greek wines as well as Mythos a Greek lager . For a truly Greek experience on a warm summer’s night we recommend, a small greet salad, the Gyros entree with a cold Mythos lager, and if there is still room a baklava for desert.
The service is outstanding and we feel very confident to say that the staff at Bobby’s are what completes the whole experience And the restaurant itself is big, with an open, airy atmosphere. If you go to Bobby’s, make sure you check out the bathrooms! The owners did it all themselves; each stall is an individual room, beautiful drover and wall paint.
But Bobby/s Downtown is more the food, music and decor. Every year Bobby’s Downtown opens its doors on Thanksgiving to serve an elegant sit down meal to those without a permanent place to live, strangers and friends in need.
If there is one Greek word that everyone should know it is this word–“philoxenia”–literally translated as “friend to the stranger” but it goes a lot deeper than that. In ancient Greece hospitality was a value ranking high on the list of virtues–there was great respect and honor bestowed from host to guest.
Bobby Nikolaides and his beautiful sister Rena Nikolaides have a tradition of giving in the spirit of philoxenia; they are true friends to strangers and the best of being Greek. You have our thanks and gratitude
